Norfloxacin-TZ Tablets
Each tablet contains Norfloxacin 400 , Tinidazole 600 mg

Norfloxacin Eye/Ear Drops
Each 5 ml vial contains Norfloxacin USP 0.3% w/v, Benzalkonium Chloride NF (preservative) 0.01% w/v, in a sterile aqueous vehicle q.s.

Norfloxacin Eye Ointment
Norfloxacin USP 0.3% w/w, Benzalkonium Chloride NF 0.01% w/w

Norfloxacin-TZ Tablets
Each tablet contains Norfloxacin IP 400 , Tinidazole IP 600 mg

Without a Prescription

Norfloxacin is prescribed for:
- Bacterial enteric infections: bacterial gastroenteritis caused by enteropatho-genic e.coli and shigella sp;
- Sexually transmitted diseases: gonorrhoea, gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis, and chancroid;
- Treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery of amoebic, bacterial or mixed origins;
- Urinary tract infections: acute, uncomplicated, complicated, chronic and recurrent uti;

Dosage

Norfloxacin-TZ should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals with a glass of water.
Patients should be advised to drink fluids liberally.
Antacids and sucralfate should not be taken concomitantly or within 2 hours of dosing.
The dosage is one tablet twice daily for 5 days.

Eye
Treatment of superficial ocular infections: Conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, blepharitis, blepharoconjuncti-vitis, acute meibomianitis and dacryocystitis
Prophylaxis: Infections due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis.
Prevention of ocular infections after removal of a corneal or conjunctival foreign body, after damage from chemical or physical agents, before and after ocular surgery.

Ear
Otitis externa, acute otitis media and chronic suppurative otitis media, and prophylaxis during otic surgeries such as mastoid surgery.

Dosage and Administration

Norfloxacin Eye/Ear Drops
Do not touch dropper tip to any surface or wash the dropper since this may contaminate the solution.

Eye
Acute infections
One to two drops every 15 to 30 minutes, initially, reducing the frequency of instillation gradually as infection is controlled.

Moderate infections
One to two drops, two to six times daily or more often as needed.
Acute and chronic trachoma
Two drops in each eye, two to four times daily for one to two months or longer.

Ear
Two or three drops every two or three hours, initially, reducing the frequency of instillation gradually as infection is controlled.

Norfloxacin Eye Ointment
Acute infections
Half inch ribbon every three to four hours, initially, reducing the frequency of application gradually as infection is controlled.

Moderate infections
Half inch ribbon two to three times daily or as often as needed.

Acute and chronic trachoma
Half inch ribbon in each eye, two to four times daily for one to two months.

Urinary tract infections
Uncomplicated
400 twice daily for three to ten days
Complicated
400 twice daily for up to 21 days.
Acute gastroenteritis
400 twice daily for five days.
Gonococcal urethritis or cervicitis
A single dose of 800 .
In impaired renal function
If creatinine clearance is between 10 and 30 ml/min the dose should be reduced to 200 twice daily or 400 mg once daily.

The dosage is one tablet twice daily for 5 days.

IMPAIRED RENAL FUNCTION
If creatinine clearance is between 10 and 30 ml/minute the dose should be reduced to one tablet daily.

Contraindications

Norfloxacin is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Hypersensitivity to quinolone group of antibacterial agents or any of the components of the formulation;
- Hypersensitivity to quinolone group of compounds or nitroimidazoles;
- Hypersensitivity to the quinolone group of antibacterials;
